Ponzi scheme: Couple duped four of Rs 22 lakh in Kapil Nagar

Nagpur: Kapil Nagar police have booked a couple for allegedly defrauding four people to the tune of Rs 22 lakh by luring them to invent a ponzi scheme. Cops have booked accused Anurag Gyanchand Jais (40) and his spouse Shital (38), resident of plot no 341/8, Dixit Nagar colony in this regard.

According to police sources, the complainant, Amit Dinesh Gupta (30), a resident of plot 175, Raman Maruti Nagar, along with his brother and friends — Surayaprakash Gupta and Bhushan Nandekar — had invested 22 lakh in a Star Investment firm of Jais couple back in November 2020. The accused couple had promised them hefty returns. However, soon after receiving the money, the couple stops receiving complainant’s calls and responding to texts.
