Opposition parties misleading farmers, laws won’t be taken back: Bawankule

Nagpur: Opposition parties misleading and instigating the agitating farmers. The farm laws enacted by the Modi government are aimed at improving the lot of farmers and in no way do these laws harm the interests of farmers. And no matter what, the laws won’t be taken back, said former Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule here on Monday.

Bawankule was addressing a press conference at the Press Club, Civil Lines. Rajiv Poddar and other Bhartiya Janta Party leaders were prominently present on this occasion.

“Congress party had failed to full-fill the promises made in their manifesto regarding these bills. However, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has completed his task. Back in 2010-11, even Sharad Pawar had written to the Chief Minister and sought amendment in MPMC Law. He even favored the collaboration of private players in the market but, the issue is not being politicized to gain momentum,” said Bawankule.

“It is pertinent to mention that earlier, opposition parties like DMK, TMC and Shiv Sena had supported these bills. However, the same parties are not obstructing the bills. Farmers from only Punjab are agitating, Maharashtra farmers have no problems in this regard. The law aims to provide direct benefits to farmers by eliminating middlemen,” he claimed.

“Those who thrive only on commission are backing these protests. These protests are intensifying only for political gains. The Modi government completed the mammoth task of bringing such laws, which no other government even thought to execute,” said Bawankule.

Talking about the Vidarbha region, Bawankule said that, “Vidarbha has suffered loss of over Rs 1,000 crores

Though the MVA government failed to provide any sort of aid to farmers, they are busy renovating Minister’s houses.”
