Mohan Bhagwat to visit Tamil Nadu on Jan 13-14

Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Chief Mohan Bhagwat is all set to celebrate Pongal-Mahara Shankranti on January 14 at a Dalit home in Chennai.

Bhagwat is a NSG protectee wiith Z+ security. He travels in a bulletproof vehicle and a phone jammer and is guarded by 40 black cat commandos. It therefore comes as little surprise that his schedule is always kept a secret.

What we know is that Bhagwat will be in Tamil Nadu on a two-day visit likely on January 13-14.

The Assembly elections in the state are likely to be held in April and with Rajinikanth’s entry into politics, Bhagwat’s visit is significant.

Top RSS leaders deny any overtures to the megastar, saying that Bhagwat undertakes annual visits to all states.

Bhagwat is set to interact with many religious heads on conversions in south districts of Tamil Nadu. He has another set of meetings with 40 Hindu organisations based in southern India. Bhagwat is also meeting Muslim, Christian and Sikh leaders to understand their perspectives. Sources say that Bhagwat is keen to understand why Dravidian politics based on ideologies is waning.

RSS has always has been a source of strength to BJP. With the Vel Yatra and Karruppar Koottam type of fringe groups showing their strengths in the state, the RSS chief has to work out a strategy to neutralise them.
