IT raids Topworth group

Nagpur News: Topworth Group, a steel and power company that has its power plant under construction on Umrer Road, has come under the scanner of Income Tax officials due to its suspected illegal purchase of a coal block from Shree Veerangana Steels for Rs. 30 crores.

The raid originally began in Raipur, at the company’s office in that city. Investigations led the team to Nagpur city and they took the help of Nagpur I-T officials to raid the company’s plant and offices here.

The frequent exchange of hands in the case of this particular coal mine had drawn attention and suspicions earlier. Notices had already been issued in this regard to the Jalgaon- based Lodha family, who promotes the Topworth Group by the Income Tax department.
