    ICAI Nagpur felicitates Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Gupta

    Nagpur: The Nagpur Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), led by CA. Kirit N. Kalyani, Chairman, Nagpur Branch, felicitated Nitin Gupta, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Nagpur.

    CA. Kirit Kalyani, briefed about the activities of the Branch. He informed that Nagpur Branch is catering to around 3000 members and more than 15,000 students at Nagpur. It has been awarded as the best branch at All India level on several occasions. He said that the Branch organizes various events for updating its members and society at large. Kalyani further elucidated various events organized by the Nagpur Branch for the benefit of members and students, in the form of apt webinars and virtual CPE Meets, irrespective of hurdle in the form of lockdown phase, etc. because of COVID 19.

    Nitin Gupta, reacting to the felicitation, said he is impressed with the progress made by Nagpur Branch of ICAI. He lauded the efforts of the branch in the development of the Chartered Accountancy profession. He informed the members present about various measures being taken by the Income Tax Department to ensure assessee friendly atmosphere on one hand and bringing more and more transparency in the matter of administering the statute, on the other.

    The Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax spared his valuable time to discuss various crucial issues including the ones faced by assesses because of processing at CPC, Bengaluru, delayed compliances because of pandemic, financial crunch faced by assessees, etc. Also, the issues and intricacies in the matter of ensuring effective implementation of faceless assessment, appeal, etc. provisions, were discussed. He shared the efforts being taken to ensure success of Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme and appealed the Team Nagpur, to ensure extending favour to asssessees, so that maximum benefit can be availed by them and old pending disputes come to an end.
