Doctors stage protest against ‘mixopathy’ in Nagpur

Nagpur: Taking part in a nation-wide demonstration against the proposed amalgamation of allopathy with ayurveda, homoeopathy and other medical disciplines, members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) organized a demonstration in Nagpur.

Protesting against the ‘mixopathy’ — which allows ayurvedic practitioners to use and prescribe modern medicine and above all grant them rights to perform general surgery in ophthalmology, ENT, etc — being promoted by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), doctors attached to IMA Nagpur hold peaceful protest at prominent squares in the Second Capital of the State.

Doctors in the small groups, wearing white coats and holding posters and banners against the notification that allows ayurveda post graduate students to conduct 58 types of surgeries were seen on this occasion.

In the next step of the agitation, doctors will close all non-emergency medical services on December 11 from 6 am to 6 pm.
