Goon possessing mauser gun, sword nabbed by Nandanvan cops

Nagpur: Nagpur: Nandanvan police nabbed a notorious goon and seized a country-made mauser pistol along with magazine, a sword and a knife from his possession. The arrest was made on late Monday night.

The arrested accused has been identified as Rakesh Ramprasad Rathore (38), resident of 53, Shrawan Nagar, near Nagoba Mandir, Wathoda Layout, Nandanvan.

Acting on secret information, a team of Nandanvan police raided the house of the accused and started a search operation. During the search, cops stumbled upon the mauser pistol, sword and knife collectively worth Rs 50,000. The accused Rakesh Rathore was possessing the weapons illegally despite the prohibitory orders issued by Commissioner of Police under Section 37(1) of Maharashtra Police Act. The accused has been booked under Sections 3/25, 4/25 of Arms Act read with Section 135 of Maharashtra Police Act and placed under arrest.

The task was performed by API Pankaj Ghadge, PSI Hemant Thorat, Woman PSI Snehlata Jaybhaye, ASIs Mahendra Singh Thakur, Ramesh Chikhle, head constable Sachin Emprediwar, NPCs Rajendra Shirbhate, Omkar Barabhai, sepoys Roshan Nimbarte, Dilip Agwan, Abhay Marode under the guidance of DCP Nilesh Bharne, ACP Ramesh Gharge, and Senior PI Vinayak Chavan.
