    Cops foil robbery bid, arrest 7 in Ajni

    Nagpur: The vigilant squad of Unit 4 of Nagpur Crime Branch on Friday thwarted a robbery bid by arresting a gang of seven armed robbers from Babulkheda area under Ajni police station. Cops have seized few knives, iron rods, nylon rope, chilli powder and other materials from their possession.

    A squad of Unit 4 Crime Branch, led by senior PI Ashok Meshram was on patrolling duty on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. At the stroke of midnight, cops received secret information that a gang of 8-10 persons had assembled near Night School in Babulkheda area under Ajni Police Station. Acting on the information, the cops rushed to the spot and surrounded the seven gang members. Though, taking advantage of the dark, one accused managed to escape on this occasion.

    The names of the accused were given as Ketan Manoj Dangre (27), a resident of Beltarodi, Roshan alias Kangaroo Dhyaneshwar Amule (24), Shrikant alias Mama Chintaman Ingole (36), Amit alias Ammu Pramod Somkuwar (25), all residents of Ajni and others.

    All the accused have been booked under Section 399, 402, 188 of the Indian Penal Code read with Sections 4+25 of Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act and placed under arrest.
