Nagpur: Total 19 consumers of a housing society were duped by a man to the Rs 12.43 lakh on the pretext of search verification report of real estate and other work in Sonegaon police jurisdiction. Accused has been booked.
The accused has been identified as Manjunath Venkatesh Murti alias Patil (51), resident of Plot No. 11, Pragati Housing Coop Society, Fourth Floor, Pawanbhoomi, near Manish Nagar Railway Crossing. The accused, between November 15, 2018 and December 20, 2018, took Rs 4.44 lakh from 19 consumers of the Housing Society for submitting search verification report on real estate. The accused also took Rs 7.30 lakh from three of the consumers for preparing mortgage register. Furthermore, the accused grabbed three laptops worth Rs 68,676 of a consumer named Rakesh Ganeshprasad Dubey (47). This way, the accused cheated the society consumers to the tune of Rs 12.43 lakh cumulatively.
Sonegaon PSI Shejav, based on a complaint lodged by Nitin Ashok Dixit (40), resident of Plot No. 112, Empress Mill Housing Society, Shrinagar, near Narendra Nagar, booked the accused Manjunath Murti alias Patil under Sections 420, 406 of the IPC and launched investigation into the matter.
