Classes for first year at GMCH Nagpur to go online

Nagpur: In the wake of rising numbers of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in the Second Capital of the State, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) authorities have decided to shift to online classes for the first-year MBBS students. The administration, accordingly, informed the National Medical Commissioner (NMC) about the move of not conducting physical classes in a full-fledged manner, until the pandemic situation is improved.

It is pertinent to mention that the first-year MBBS and BDS classes for the academic session are supposed to start on February 2, 2021. The authorities decided to delay the process of resuming the classes as there will be a delay in BDS admissions. The admissions for BDS will take place till January 31.

The management of the GMCH has planned to combine both online and physical classes for the first year medicos; while physical classes are being considered to conduct practical sessions which are a minor part of the first-year medical course, theory classes are most likely to be held online.
