CBSE has updated the text material on its academic website and has stated that the Hindi versions of OTBA will also be uploaded soon. Apart from the sample questions included with every text material, the board has also directed teachers to develop more such questions which are based on the given text but require answers through application of concepts, further extrapolation, comparison and inference.

“The teachers should assign this text material to their students in groups for further understanding, analysis and discussion. The main objective of introducing OTBA is to provide opportunities to students in acquiring skills of information, processing, comprehension and analysis. The teachers should guide students, provide feedback and encourage open responses in solving situations,” wrote CBSE”s director Sadhana Parashar to the schools.

The OTBA for standard XI is available only for Geography, Economic and Biology. For standard IX, the OTBA is applicable for Hindi (A and B), English (Communicative and language and literature), Mathematics, Science and Social Science.
