
Nagpur: The Wathoda Police Station have registered a case against nine persons for allegedly indulging in gambling in an open plot at Jijamata Nagar under their jurisdiction on Thursday evening.
Acting on specific inputs, officials from the detection squad conducted a raid between 7 pm and 8.30 pm at an open space behind Manoj Bawane’s residence at Plot No. 64, Jijamata Nagar, Wathoda. During the operation, the accused were found gambling with playing cards and wagering money.
The accused have been identified as Manoj Krishna Bawane (23), Ghanshyam Murlidhar Dani (29), Jitesh Dekate (32), Ayush Sonarghare (22), Vikas Kamble (22), Yash Jhade (23), Pritam Salame (32), Kishor Bawane (28), and Rohit Kachhawa (30), all residents of the Nandanvan area of Nagpur.
Police seized ₹5,420 in cash along with playing cards and other gambling material from their possession. A case has been registered under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Gambling Prevention Act. Further investigation is underway.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Niketan Kadam (Zone 5) and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rohit Ovhal (Kalamna Division).
