Accused Rajesh Daware and Arvind Singh
Nagpur: The much awaited decision in the day light kidnapping and then brutally murdering innocent Yug Chandak was finally out on Saturday, when two of the accused were pronounced guilty for the charges levelled against them. In a jam packed courtroom, Chief District and Session Court Judge Kishore Sonwane, held both the accused Rajesh Daware and Arvind Singh, guilty of kidnapping and murder. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on February 3.
Sources said considering the gravity of the crime, the accused being handed out death rap could not be ruled out. They could also be sentenced to lifetime imprisonment too if the judge offers leniency in the case.
During the last hearing, the defence had submitted arguments in written form. Earlier, the prosecution presented their evidence on the basis of eye-witnesses, post-mortem report, CCTV footage etc. The names of the accused are Rajesh Dhanalal Daware (19) and Arvind Abhilash Singh (23). The memories of this heart-rending September 1, 2014 incident are still fresh in the minds of lakhs and lakhs of citizens. During the high-voltage trial, the prosecution examined a total of 50 witnesses while defence the seven. The court posed around 800 questions to both the accused during the course of the trial.
The State was represented by Additional Government Pleader Jyoti Vajani while the complainant is being represented by Adv Rajendra Daga and Adv Manoj Dullarwar. Both the accused are represented by Adv Agrawal and Adv Manmohan Upadhyay.
Yug’s father Mukesh Chandak is dentist and has clinic at Dosar Bhavan Chowk.Yug was a student of Centre Point School.One of the accused Rajesh Davre used to work at Chandak’s clinic. But was removed from the job sometime back.On September a, 2014 Davare with the help of of his friend Arvind Singh kidnapped Yug at 4 pm. The incident took place when Yug alighted from school bus infront of of his home. The kidnappers murdered him near Dahegaon- Patansaongi at Lonkhari nullah.
