Youth Congress to undertake 4-day Samvidhan Sanrakshan Jyoti Yatra from April 8 to 11

Maharashtra Unit of Youth Congress is undertaking a 4-day Samvidhan Sanrakshan Jyoti Yatra with the theme Mahatma to Ambedkar to mark 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. The Yatra will commence from Sewagram in Wardha District on April 8 and will culminate at Deekshabhoomi here on April 11 in the presence of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi, informed State President of Youth Congress Dr Vishwajit Kadam while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will attend the concluding function of the year-long celebrations marking the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on April 11. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has been conducting the year-long celebrations of Dr Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary across the country and the concluding programme will be held in Nagpur on April 11. The Gandhis are addressing a public meeting on the same apart from attending the programme at Deekshabhoomi.

Elaborating on the name of the rally the Youth Congress President said that the policies of Bharatiya Janata Party, which is ruling in the State and at Centre, are posing perils to the spirit of Indian Constitution. “The BJP is is bent on destroying the very Constitution that was prepared by Dr Ambedkar. The rally is aimed at spreading mass awareness in view of the dangers that could be posed in future because of the policies of BJP,” Dr Kadam declared.

Dr Kadam further said that the theme of the rally will be ‘Mahatma to Ambedkar.’ The rally commencing from Sewagram on April 8 will display finer aspects of Dr Ambedkar’s life by way of rare photographs of the iconic Dalit leader. The Samvidhan Sanrakshan Jyoti Yatra will cover a distance of 324 kms during its 4-day period. Commencing from Sewagram the rally will also go to Pavnar Ashram of Vinoba Bhave, Ambadevi Mandir in Amravati, Gadge Maharaj Ashram, Tukdiji Maharaj Ashram in Mozari en route to Nagpur. During the 4-day Yatra, a public meeting will be held in the evening to convey the purpose of the rally.
The Yatra will be participated by State and national leaders of Congress and over 20000 youth activists of the party from across the state, Dr Kadam said.
