Young married woman immolates self in parents’ house in Jaripatka

selfNagpur: A young married woman, who was staying with her parents since the past 9 years, immolated self by pouring kerosene oil on her person in her house in Jaripatka area in on June 18. She received burn injuries on face, chest, stomach, and both hands. The woman succumbed to the grievous injuries on Sunday (June 26) while undergoing treatment.

The deceased Bharti Chandrashekhar Gajbhiye (35) was staying with her parents’ house situated in Lumbini Nagar Harijan Colony since 9 years even after her marriage. On June 18, around 6.30 in the morning, Bharti poured kerosene oil on her person and torched her. Bharti’s shrill cries woke up her sleeping parents who found her in flames. Bharti received severe burn injuries on face, chest, stomach, and both hands. She was rushed to Mayo Hospital by husband Chandrashekhar Gajbhiye and admitted in Ward No. 3. However, despite all efforts by doctors, Bharti succumbed to burn injuries during treatment around 4.45 pm on Sunday.

Jaripatka cops, based on the information from Police Booth at Mayo, have started an in-depth probe into the reasons behind Bharti’s self immolation.
