Nagpur: As Yakub Memon’s body was allowed to be taken to his Mahim residence in Mumbai, the financial capital has been put on high alert and heavy security has been infused throughout the city. More than 300 people have taken into preventive custody in order to avoid any commotion during Yakub’s burial.
Post Yakub Memon’s hanging in Nagpur jail hanging yard on Thursday morning, a team of doctors performed his postmortem in the jail premises itself. His brother Suleiman Memon who was staying in a city hotel along with his cousin since Wednesday night, reached jail amidst tight security.

Meanwhile, clearing all speculations over where Yakub’s body will be buried, it was finally decided to hand over the body to his relatives to take it to Mumbai to perform his last rites as per their religious custom. Yakub’s wife and daughter resides in Mumbai’s Mahim area.
It is learnt that Yakub’s body is being taken to Mumbai through IndiGo flight 544.

Sources said Yakub’s body was handed over to his brother with an undertaking there would be no public demonstration during his procession. It is informed that his body will be taken to Marine Line crematorium from his Mahim residence in an ambulance.
