Workshop on CSR and Sustainable Development organised at WCL

DSC_9002While addressing the participants in one day workshop on Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development organised at Management Development Institute, WCL Hq on the 31st July 2014, Sri Rupak Dayal Director Personnel informed that the CSR activities of WCL has been appreciated by its stakeholders. The company has been successful in creation of infrastructures to bring meaningful change in the lives of the population living around the mining areas. Yet a lot has to be done. The emphasis of CSR team of WCL should now be on improving the long term impact of CSR works undertaken by the company. Coal India Limited has revised its CSR Policy in June 2014. It is desirable that the officers should study the policy and act accordingly.

Professor Satyajit Majumdar, from Tata Institute of Social Sciences the core faculty for the workshop guided the executives on Baseline Survey Process, implementation of CSR activities and empowerment of the community.

The workshop was value added by discussions on case studies and examples of CSR activities undertaken by the different industries across the country. The workshop was attended by officials from all areas of the company.
