Woman robbed of Rs 2,97,000 by five persons in the name of a car prize, cops hunt tricksters

cybercrimenagpurNagpur: In yet another cyber crime, a 32-year old woman was first trapped and then robbed of Rs 2,97,870 by a gang of five tricksters, including a girl, in the name of a car prize. All the five accused have been booked.

According to details, the victim, Vanita Rajan Tekam (32), resident of Wanadongri, Ward No. 2, Shivaji Nagar, Nagpur, frequently received calls on her mobile phone in the period from 31.3.14 to 10.9.14 informing her that she has won a Maruti Car as a prize. Vanita received calls first from an accused having mobile phone number 09931294509 and then from other four accused Nisha Kumari, Amit Kumar, Mukesh Mittal and Guddu Kumar. All the five accused frequently called Vanita on her mobile and informed her that they were agents of Tata Motors and that she has won a Maruti car as a prize. The accused told Vanita that the car will be delivered to her at her house. Vanita too got trapped by the lure of a car prize. However, all the five accused, according to their game plan, instructed Vanita to deposit some amounts in different bank accounts for receiving the ‘prized’ car. Following the instructions of the five accused, Vanita deposited a total of Rs 2,97,870 in various bank accounts dreaming the ‘prized’ car. However, the car did not reach her home till date. Vanita soon realized she has been tricked and robbed of her money and lodged a complaint with MIDC Police Station in this regard.

MIDC Senior PSI Yadav booked all the five accused under Sections 420 of the IPC and searching for them.
