Winter Session ‘Heat’: 2523 Call Attention, 35 morchas, 18 dharnas on the cards

Nagpur: The two-week-long Winter Session of Maharashtra State Legislature is commencing from December 11 in Second Capital City of Nagpur. The Legislature Secretariat has started its working. It is receiving call attention notices, starred questions, proposals for half hour discussions being submitted by legislators from all over Maharashtra.

The Winter Session is likely to see tabling of 2523 Call Attention Motions – 1790 for Legislative Assembly and 733 for Legislative Council. The Secretariat has also received 9675 starred questions, 186 half hour discussion proposals, and 401 non-government proposals to be tabled in Assembly, the Assistant Secretary of Secretariat Ashok Mohite said. Similarly, for Legislative Council, 733 Call Attention Motions, 2916 starred questions, 163 non-government proposals have been received by the Secretariat.

The all important supplementary demands have been listed for tabling in Assembly towards the fag end of the Session.

According to sources, if a decision is to arrive foe extension of the Session, it will in all probability will be extended for a day only. The Session will conclude on December 23. December 24 is Sunday and Christmas is on December 25.

When it comes to Winter Session, how can one forget about morchas, dharnas, and other agitations. The protesters and agitators have geared up to reach their demands at the doors of Government Darbars. Till to date, 35 organisations including political, social and educational have sought permissions from police for morchas. Similarly, 18 organisations have submitted applications to Special Branch of police for dharnas to be staged at Patwardhan Ground.
