Nagpur: On the occasion of his 60th birthday, a very artistically made wax statue of Union Minister for Transport, Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari was unveiled at his residence in Mahal in the presence of many BJP leaders, dignitaries and the media.

The statue has been carved by self taught artist Sunil Kandalloor who has a wax museum in Lonavala, Maharashtra. The museum, set up in 2010 already has 300 wax statues of historical figures and leaders to which Gadkari’s statue will be added now.

The museum is fast gaining in popularity and already has an average footfall of 5000 visitors per day.

Encouraged by the success of this first museum, Sunil has set up another Wax museum in Devgad in Sindhudurg Distt of Konkan.

“It was a pleasure to design and ‘make’ this realistic wax statue of Shri Nitinji” said Sunil, ” he is a very loving and pleasant person to work with and I will cherish the interactions I have had with this great, yet humble leader.”

Sunil’s next project is carving P.M. Modiji in wax! He has already taken Modi’s body measurements and obtained photographs. He has also been given the green signal to go ahead with the making of the statue which he is seeing as a challenge.

He wants it to be better than Modi’s statue in London’s famous Madam Tussauds museum.
