NMC-OCW to start rehabilitation of 41-year aged Laxmi Nagar (Old) ESR soon
Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water (OCW) have jointly planned to (strengthen) rehabilitate, 41-year old Laxmi Nagar (Old) ESR (constructed in year 1963) , in a bid to strengthen water supply system for future, especially of Laxmi Nagar zone.
It may be mentioned here NMC has undertaken “Rehabilitation Plan to Implement 24 x 7 Water Supply Project for Nagpur City” under the Central Government’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Mission (JnNURM). Under the cited mission, Laxmi Nagar Old ESR, which is presently in deteriorated condition, is proposed for rehabilitation and its work will start from 22nd December, 2014.
During the rehabilitation of Laxminagar Old ESR tank, water supply will not remain affected in any area; however supply timings from Laxmi Nagar Old, New , Takli Sim and Khamla ESR’s will be rescheduled from 22th December, 2014, onwards.
The new schedule of areas wise water supply in Laxmi Nagar zone is
Laxminagar Old and New ESR:
From 3.30 am to 8 am: Laxmi Nagar, Vasant Nagar, Rahate Colony, Abhyankar Nagar, Bajaj Nagar, Madhav Nagar, Dongre Layout, Shraddhanandpeth, Friends Colony.
From 6 am to 8 am: Gittikhadan Layout, Tatya Tope Nagar, Atre Layout, Uwella Colony, SE Railway Colony, Kotwal Nagar, Anand Nagar, P & T Colony, Dhangarpura area
From 11 am to 2 pm : Navinrman Society, Mani Layout, Sharma Layout, Vidya Vihar colony
From 5:15 pm to 7:15 pm: Dev Nagar, Sawarkar Nagar, Part of Vivakanand Nagar Danteshwari slum

NMC-OCW will be using latest ‘Pressure Grouting’ technique for rehabilitating old overhead water tank. It is technique where series of holes were drilled through the concrete slab and wall of ESR, and a grout tube then inserted into each hole. Then a special chemical is pumped under pressure through each hole. The grout then displaced, compacted and solidified thus forming grout columns. Pressure grouting will stabilised the existing concrete walls, slabs etc. these ESR’. Further at Laxmi Nagar ESR the bottom slab is also
in dilapidated condition. NMC –OCW has plans to strengthen the bottom slab and in such way totally rehabilitate entire ESR for future use.
It may be mentioned here, recently, NMC-OCW, took initiative and on priority basis successfully not only plugged leakages but completely rehabilitated Minimata Nagar, Nandanvan and Old Wanjari Nagar ESR using similar technology.
