Nagpur: In an audacious act, three masked men on Wednesday night tried to loot a petrol pump on busy Ring Road in Narendra Nagar. The three desperadoes attacked an employee of the petrol pump with knife and inflicted injury on his neck in a bid to snatch cash from him. The act of the robbers has been caught on CCTV camera installed at the fuel pump. Cops have mounted a hunt to nab the three robbers.

Around 10.30 pm on Wednesday, the three masked men made a futile attempt to loot Vaishnavi Petrol Pump of Hindustan Petroleum, situated near Fire Station in Narendra Nagar and one of them stabbed the petrol pump employee, Nitin Ramesh Chichghare (30), on his neck. The knife-wielding masked men also tried to scare a customer.

According to Senior Police Inspector of Ajni Police Station Shailesh Sankhe, the three masked men walked into the Vaishnavi Petrol Pump and one of them stabbed Nitin Chichghare on his neck with a sharp-edged weapon at 10.30 pm. Chichghare raised an alarm and fled the spot. After seeing the sharp-weapon, other employees, too, ran away from the petrol pump with cash. As no one was there to loot, the robbers fled the spot without cash. The police investigation revealed that the accused fled on the motorcycle which was parked near the petrol pump. The police have procured CCTV footage. The crime took place within seconds, said PI Sankhe.

On the basis of complaint lodged by Chichghare, Ajni PSI Y V Ingle has registered a case under Sections 394, 34 of the IPC. Cops have launched a massive search to nab the masked robbers.
