Nagpur News.

Frustrated over police inaction in bringing their defaulter behind the bar owing to their hard earned money being choked into his ponzi schemes, few age old investors have been sitting inside Wasankar Wealth Management’s office at Gandhi Nagar here since Thursday night. A couple has even locked themselves inside the office and refused to come out until they get their money back. Strange part however is that instead of taking concrete action in the matter, Ambazari police has been reportedly harassing these investors, allegedly at the behest of mastermind behind the dubious schemes – Prashant Wasankar.

Interestingly When Nagpur Today quizzed city’s Commissioner of Police KK Pathak in this regard, he seemed opposed to the idea of arresting Wasankar as he believed arresting was not the solution. Clarifying over the remarkable delay in police action, Pathak said, “The cases pertaining to Economic Offences Wing (EOW) takes time as this is not the body offence where someone hit someone and we arrest them. We are not interested in arresting Wasankar as we can do it anytime. We are trying to detail out the properties so that investors can get their money back.”

When asked how previous such cases regarding Shreesurya Scam and more recently Raviraj Investment scam were adhered to so quick and the masterminds were put behind the bars in sharp contrast to Wasankar’s case, Pathak said, “Our DCP Kolhe and Joint CP Sanjay Saxena have been working on the details and since there are many groups involved in this, it has turned complicated but our men is very much on their job.”

While the CP is claiming to mediate the matter, one of the investors wondered whether it was the job of police to mediate between parties. “In such a big scam involving crores of rupees of investors and about 20 people have lodged complaint, how can the police be so inactive and try to solemnize the investors instead of bringing the accused to the book.”

Nagpur Today spoke to few these investors, who opened their heart out but not wished to be named.

One of the investors questioned, “Why the police chief did not mediate in Shreesurya and Raviraj scams? The cops readily act against a person involved in a cheque bounce case but the same does not seem to be happening in the case of Wasankar… Why?“

Information revealed that nearly 20 people have lodged a complaint with the crime branch. The investigating officer has collected thousands of bounced cheques and other incriminating documents. While the police officials had shown extreme haste to arrest Joshi Couple of Shree Surya Investments, for reasons best known to them they are not in any haste to take any pro-active steps to apprehend the culprit who has cheated the citizens of Nagpur to the tune of crores of rupees.

The aged couple was visibly distraught. They alleged that people who went and stayed in his house overnight received Rs 12 lakhs as temporary payment with a promise to pay the balance soon.

Wasankar had the audacity to call the police officials of Ambazari police Station to evict the people who were sitting inside his office. The cops too made a beeline to the office to evict them. When the people who were sitting in the office demanded the law under which they are being evicted, Lady PI Jhangre who was on night duty at Ambazari police station just went away. However, she posted two constables in the premises to prevent any untoward incident.

Goons threatening investors

If this was not enough, some cohorts, goons of Wasankar arrived there and were seen making subtle threats to these investors to leave the premises. They even made a threat to the Special Correspondent who was present there to gather news of the investors. The investors who staged a sit-in dharna claimed that more such investors will join them on Friday.

Meanwhile, sources said Wasankar’s wife also arrived at the office in a neigbour’s car. “She was sitting at the back and tried to gauge the situation. She also informed her guards to remain vigiliant and went away without talking to the investors.”

CP denies political nexus

Reports suggest that the police were unwilling to arrest Wasanakar due to some political influence. However when Nagpur Today asked CP KK Pathak, he denied any such nexus. He said, “I am the CP. I am telling you that I am not influenced under any political move.”

Meanwhile sources pointed their fingers on the investigating authorities for allegedly being hand in glove with the culprits.
