Vidarbha Konkan Gramin Bank duped of Rs 16.65 lakh in bogus car loan deal

Nagpur: Three con men and car dealer have been booked by Wadi police on the charges of duping a bank to the tune of Rs 16.65 lakh by procuring vehicle loan with the help of forged documents.

The accused Mohd Rafiq Noor Mohd Sheikh, Mohd Sajid Mohd Sheikh, both residents of Central Railway Quarters, Ajni, Rajesh Prabhakar Chouhan of Kunjilalpeth, Bhagwan Nagar and M/s Khaparkar Motors connived with each other and approached Vidarbha Konkan Gramin Bank Branch at Dattawadi. The accused, between November 2014 and June 2016, opened accounts in the bank and applied for car loan. The accused submitted bogus car purchase and insurance documents and procured loan of Rs 16.65 lakh. The accused in fact did not purchase any car nor returned loan money to the bank. As the cheating came to notice, the Manager of Vidarbha Konkan Gramin Bank Dattawadi Branch Sachin Abhaji Deotale (38) lodged a complaint with Wadi police in this regard.

Wadi PSI Y M Kharsan has booked the accused under Sections 406, 420, 465, 468, 471, 34 of the IPC.
