Pregnancy diabetes is increasing in our population as an epidemic like type 2 diabetes. Type-2 diabetes, once known as adult – onset or noninsulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition that affects the way your body metabolizes sugar (glucose), your body’s main source of fuel. Approximately 14% of pregnant women may have Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). Early detection and treatment can improve fetal outcome and can prevent fetal & maternal morbidity & mortality. National organization DIPSI, has given its recommendation for care of pregnant women with diabetes.

To spread the knowledge, Diabetes Care Foundation of India (DCFI) Nagpur in collaboration with Diabetes Care’n Research Centre (DCRC), Diabetes In Pregnancy Study Group of India (DIPSI) & Diabetes Association of India (DAI), Nagpur has organized a national level meet “Hello Diabetes — Academia” on 26th between 4pm to 9pm and on 27th July 2014 between 8am to 4pM at Hotel Center Point, Ramdaspeth Nagpur. “Diabetes & Pregnancy” is the theme of the meeting. During the two days meet, around 30 lectures will be addressed by 20 national faculties and 60 chairpersons and 20 scientific co-ordinations which are extend over in 10 Scientific Sessions.

Eminent faculties are Dr. Samar Banerjee from Kolkata, Dr. C. S. Yajnik from Pune , Dr. Jitendra Singh from Jammu , Dr. Shashank Joshi from Mumbai, Dr. Ajay Kumar from Patna, Dr.Shailaja Kale from Pune, Dr. Uday Thanawala from Mumbai, Dr. Bansi Saboo from Ahmedabad ,Dr. Anuj Maheshwari from Lacknow, Dr. Shobha Gudi from Bangaluru, Mrs Shilpa Joshi from Mumbai and Dr. Sunil Gupta, Dr. Jay Deshmukh, Dr. Raju Khandelwal, Dr. G. Subamanium, Dr.Sunil Ambulkar and Dr. Pramod Gandhi from Nagpur.

The faculties will highlight on the newer advances and address on various issues like diagnostic criteria for diabetes in Indian Pregnant woman, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Oral drugs, use of various Insulin’s, obstetric management, future of fetus of diabetic mother etc.
The conference will be Inaugurated at 8:30 pm on Saturday 26thJuly in the presence of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon. Minister of Science & Technology, India as the Chief Guest under the chairmanship of Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Hon. Chancellor, Krishna Institute of Medical Science University, Karad in the august presence of padamshree Dr. Shashank Joshi, Leelavati Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. Prabha Bhattacharya, Sr. Gynecologist and Dr. Kishor Taor, Chairman, Maharashtra Medical Council.

Dr. Sunil Gupta, Director of DCRC, & convener along with Dr. Samar Banerjee, National Vice President DIPSI, Dr. Vishwas Dashputra, President DAI & Dr. Rajesh Atal and Secretary DAI have urged all the obstetrics & Physicians to attend the meeting & take the benefit of this academic meet.
