Nagpur:
A two-day “Elets Smart City Summit-Nagpur” is being organised in the city by Nagpur Municipal Corporation in association with Noida-based Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd. The aim of organising the event, to be held on April 7 and 8 at Hotel Le Meridien, is to highlight the smart and sustainable initiatives undertaken by NMC and promoting them through the national conference and exhibition.

Addressing a press conference, the Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar said that the Summit will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while Mayor Nanda Jichkar will grace the occasion as special guest.

Hardikar further said the two-day Smart City Summit will lay bare the roadmap for the Nagpur region of its several Smart City initiatives. At the same time, the conference will witness participation of various Municipal Corporations across the country. Mayors, Municipal Commissioners, office-bearers and officials of 100 cities selected for ‘Smart City’ Project will attend the Summit besides Central Government officials.

Similarly, experts from foreign countries overseeing ‘Smart City’ projects will also apprise the participants about the project. After the inauguration of the conference, the event will be divided in four sessions – ‘Smart Governance,’ ‘Smart Mobility,’ ‘Smart Environment,’ and ‘Smart Infrastructure.’ The two-day ‘Smart City’ Summit Conference will also see exhibition on various aspects and field visits, the Commissioner stated.

The event will also host several panel discussions on Government of India’s ambitious programmes such as Swachh Bharat, Adhaar-linked transactions, Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS), IoT and IoET as the facilitator for overall smart infrastructure and others. The conference will also bring forth the best practices of Smart Cities from across the country and will play a major role in building Nagpur as a Smart City.

Hardikar said the ‘Elets Smart City Summit-Nagpur 2017’ will have interesting sessions on various aspects of using IT and non-IT solutions for creating smart infrastructure for a holistic development of the urban space. Some of the topics to come for discussion and deliberations include:

• Smart Cities in the era of Digital India.
• Role of IoT and ICT in building Smart Cities.
• Swachh Bharat – A mission shaping to Reality.
• International Smart City experience.
• Affordable housing and many others.

Speaking on the relevance of the Summit, Dr Ravi Gupta, CEO Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd, says, “We have decided to organise similar summits/conference in all the 100 cities in future. Such platforms don’t just highlight the cliam of a city to become a Smart City, but they also work as facilitator between the government and private stakeholders in the domain.”
