Two bogus cops rob 2 men of gold booty within span of minutes in Ramnagar

Nagpur: In yet another incident, two conmen posing as policemen robbed two senior citizens of their gold ornaments worth Rs 70,000 within span of minutes on Monday evening. The incident took place in Ambazari police jurisdiction.

Devrao Narayan Tipre (57), resident of D-7, Ravinagar Government Quarters, was returning home walking around 5 pm on Monday. Near Agrasen Bhavan, Ramnagar, Amravati Road, two unidentified men accosted Devrao and told him they are policemen. The two bogus cops scared Devrao with robbery incidents and asked him to hand over his two gold rings worth Rs 28,000 ‘for safety.’ Believing the two fame policemen, Devrao handed over his gold rings. But the conmen diverted his attention and fled with the gold stuff.

Similarly, probably the same bogus cops, robbed a 62-year old Raju Vasantrao Gite, native of Shriram Nagar, Tumsar, Bhandara. Raju Gite was strolling near Madrasi Mandir, Ramnagar. Using the same modus operandi, the two bogus policemen pocketed Raju’s gold chain worth Rs 42,000 within minutes of the first incident.

Ambazari PSI S S Meshram, acting on the complaints of Devrao Tipre and Raju Gite , booked the two bogus cops under Sections 170, 420, 34 of the IPC and searching for them.
