Nagpur: The spate of road accidents being reported in continued unabated as two more persons were knocked dead by a speeding truck in Jaripatka area on Friday afternoon. The two middle aged men were riding on a motorcycle when the truck hit them killing the men on the spot. The driver of the killer truck has been arrested.
The victims Ashok Gulabrao Pawar (55) and Manik Anand Bawankule (50), both residents of Nari Basti, Jaripatka, were going on their motorcycle (MH-31/DF 7176) towards Khobragade Square on Jaripatka Ring Road around 3 pm on Friday. Midway, the truck (MH-31/M 4077), driven rashly by Ravi Muttulal Sonavane (50) of Koradi, rammed their motorcycle with intense speed. As a result, both Ashok Pawar and Manik Bawankule were hurled in the air and crashed on the road with forceful impact leaving them critically injured. Even before any medical help, the two middle aged men died on the spot.
Jaripatka PSI Raut, based on information, booked the truck driver Ravi Sonavane under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of IPC and placed him under arrest.
