Trickster siphons Rs 1.10 lakh from man’s account

Nagpur: Cyber tricksters continue to fool and rob innocent persons in city unabated. In yet another such incident, a young man was duped to the tune of Rs 1.10 lakh in Lakadganj area.

The victim, Durgesh Rajesh Thakur (29), resident of Sevak Nagar, behind NMC school, Old Bagadganj, has an account in SBI’s Chhprunagar Square Branch. On January 16, at about 3.30 pm, Durgesh received a phone call and the caller informed him that his (Durgesh) ATM card has been blocked. With this lie, the unidentified caller procured ATM number and other details from unsuspecting Durgesh. However, he was shocked when he received an SMS informing him that an amount of Rs 1,09,799 has been withdrawn from his account. The trickster siphoned the amount using details of Durgesh’s ATM card.

Lakadganj API Mule has registered a case under Sections 419, 420 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 66(D) of IT Act and launched a search to nab the accused.
