Aggrieved by lack of water supply prevailing in the hostel for the last one year, the hostel inmates of Beltarodi based Shasakiya Adivasi Mulancha Vastigruha (State Government-run Tribal Boys Hostel) took out an agitation in the Tribal Development Commissionerate office on Wednesday, August 20.

The tribal students staying in the hostel have been facing drinking water problem for a long time. The students claimed that even after repeated appeals to the authorities from time to time, the problem was not being addressed. “Water supply to toilets and bathroom is negligible. The students alleged that they have to purchase drinking water from outside. Fed up by the lackadaisical attitude of the authorities, they had to resort to agitation, said the inmates of the hostel.

After the assurance of the Tribal Development Officer Digamber Mendke, around 100 inmates of the hostel withdrew their agitation. Digamber Mendke also informed that a modern hostel with a capacity of around 1000 students is coming up near Kalamna Market. The construction work is in the final stage, and the hostel will be ready for occupation in month or so. The inmates of this hostel will be shifted in this new hostel.
