Train knocks car at Mankapur

mankapur-railway-maruti-car-accidentNagpur: Sensation prevailed in Mankapur locality on Saturday night as a train knocked off an abandoned Maruti car ( Mh31-EA-5932). However, there are no reports of any casualty in the mishap. It is learnt that Maruti car while trying to cross Mankapur level crossing developed snag and came to halt.

The driver of car on seeing oncoming Bilaspur-Amritsar Chhattisgarh Express, came out of vehicle, and ran to safety. The train dragged car upto 1 km distance before coming to a halt after its wheels got jammed. The mishap caused sparking due to which OHE was damaged.

According to information available, a service road has been constructed below new railway overbridge in Mankapur. Despite of closing of this railway crossing, vehicles pass through on old road. On Saturday night around 11 am, a Maruti car (MH 31-EA 5932) reached railway crossing and unfortunately got trapped into railway track. Sensing danger, driver came out of vehicle and fled away. In the meantime, Bilaspur-Amritsar Chhattisgarh Express came and hit the car hard. The train dragged the fateful car upto 1 km distance. The train came to halt after its wheels developed snag.

Hearing loud noise people from Mankapur locality rushed to the spot. On learning about the incident, senior railway officials and RPF commandant A Ibrahim Sharif reached the spot.
