Toilets to be constructed with CRS fund for Open Defecation Free district: Bawankule

Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Monday said that funds from Corporate Social Responsibility will be made available for construction of toilets for those families tah have no such facility. The move is aimed at making Nagpur district Open Defecation Free (ODF) district under Swachh Bharat Mission, the minister said and added that official should carry out a survey of families who do not have toilets.

Bawankule was reviewing the ODF programme at a meeting held at Abasaheb Khedkar Hall of Zilla Parishad. The meeting was also attended by ZP President Neesha Savarkar, Vice President Sharad Donekar, Chairperson Asha Gaekwad, CEO Dr Kadambari Balkavde and other officials.

“The Group Development Officers should prepare a collective list of families village-wise who have no facility of toilets and submit it to the Zilla Parishad. Later a proposal should be submitted state the necessary funds needed for construction of the toilets for ensuring Open Defecation Free district under Swachh Bharat Mission, he said.

Over 69000 toilets have been constructed in 766 Gram Panchayats of the district, said CEO Dr Kadambari Balkavde while highlighting the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission in the district. “Those families who are not beneficiaries of the scheme would provided with funds under Corporate Social Responsibility for construction of toilets,” the CEO said.

At the outset, Deputy CEO Prashant Thorat mode introductory remarks and informed the meeting about fund available with the district under Swachh Bharat Mission. The programme was conducted by Dinesh Mathurkar who also proposed a vote of thanks.
