Kolkata:
While addressing the Martyr’s Day rally in Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee, lashed out on Naredra Modi led Central government claiming that same is obstructing the work of State Governments and bulldozing secularism of the nation.

In the commemoration held for the martyrs of 1993 Kolkata firing, Banerjee used the platform to declare that her party, Trinamool Congress, will be organising a ‘BJP Quit India Movement’ which will continue from August 9th to 30th. “We will launch the movement in every Lok Sabha and assembly constituency, block, city and village. I urge all my ministers, MPs, MLAs and block leaders to take part in the programme”, she was quoted addressing the rally. She has also announced that a sum Rs. 2 lakh will be granted to the families of martyrs from the state government.

Claiming that present situation of the country is worse than that during the period of emergency, TMC Supremo said, “Even Hindus can’t survive the fake Hinduism. Don’t know if Dalits, Muslims can survive with dignity”. She also alleged that the centre does not use ED (Enforcement Directorate) and CBI against the BJP led states while the same is applied on other states abundantly.

“We don’t need a character certificate from the centre. We are a clean and honest party. The results will be seen in 2019 elections. Adding to the same, she stated that the Saradha Group Financial Scandal took place during the rule of Left Party but her party, too, is being investigated. The same was viciously combated by her.

The annual Martyr’s Day rally in Kolkata has been a show of strength for several years now. The Trinamool holds the Martyrs’ Day rally annually on July 21 in memory of 13 youths who were killed in police firing on this day in 1993.
