Three incidents of suicides have been reported in the city. The victims include a girl.
According to police, in the first incident, Pratika Jagadish Nayak (25), resident of Barde Layout, Borgaon, committed suicide on Thursday by hanging to ceiling hook with the help of a sari in her house. However, the reason behind Partika’s extreme step could not be ascertained immediately as no suicide note was found by police. Gittikhadan police, on being informed about the incident by relatives, rushed to the spot. After preliminary investigation, police sent body of Pratika to Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case of accidental death has been registered by cops and further probe is under way.
In the second incident, Chaitram Shendre (39), resident of Vijay Nagar, ended his life by hanging to ceiling fan in his house with the help of a lungi. Kalamna police reached the spot after getting information about the incident. Cops sent body of Chaitram to Government Hospital for autopsy after completing paper formalities. A case of accidental death has been registered and further investigation is going on. No reason for Chaitram’s suicide has been ascertained.
The third incident of suicide has been reported from Yashodhara Nagar. Pravin Bhimte (37) took the drastic step by hanging with the help of a sari at his house at about 5 pm on Thursday. Pravin’s wife Archana informed Yashodhara police about the matter. Cops reached the spot and after initial probe, sent the body to Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case of accidental death has been registered and further probe is under way. In this case also, the reason behind Pravin’s suicide has not been ascertained.
