Thieves take away Rs 3.41 lakh booty from two-wheeler’s dickey near Railway station

Nagpur: A jeweller was robbed off his cash and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 3.41 lakh kept in his two-wheeler’s dickey on Monday night. The theft took place under Ganeshpeth police station.

Police sources said Laxmandas Shobhraj Narang (70) has a jewellery shop. On Monday, he closed his shop at around 8.30 pm and left for his house on his Activa scooterette. On the way, he parked his vehicle in front of gate of Railway Platform No. 8 and went to buy vegetables. While he was busy buying vegetables, some unidentified thieves opened the dickey and took away cash Rs 1,700 and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 3.41 lakh.

Laxmandas discovered the theft after he saw the open dickey. He immediately rushed to Ganeshpeth police station and lodged a complaint against the thieves. Cops have registered an offence under Sections 379 of the IPC and started their investigations.
