In a world that talks so high of women’s liberty, women are still bound under numerous restrictions. A non-ending list of do’s and don’ts is pressed upon them by even their own family. However, the differentiation may sometimes lead to extreme level as in the case of a 15-year-old girl, who allegedly committed suicide two days ago following immense domestic pressure from her parents. However the suicide has baffled the cops who were looking into the reasons behind her taking such an extreme step. Apparently, it turned out to be a case where the girl chose freedom through death over caged life by her parents. Ajni cops have booked the girl’s father, step mother, and grandmother in this connection.

On August 26, the deceased Ritika Boudharatna Kamble (15), a resident of Kunjilalpeth, behind Manavta School, had committed suicide when she was alone at home. She opted to end her life by pouring kerosene on self. Neighbour heard her screams and rushed for help. They admitted her to Government Medical College and Hospital but she succumbed to her injuries. Ajni police registered a case of accidental death and started their investigations.

Father had affairs with seven women!
Investigations revealed that Ritika was mentally stressed over household issues and behaviour of her father. On further investigating the case, police informed that Boudhratna Kamble, autorickshaw driver by profession, had extra marital affair with seven other women and was infamous for his loose character. However, his first wife Laxmi and daughter Ritika objected to his behaviour. But due to his misconduct, Laxmi suffered mental stressed and now she is admitted to a mental hospital in Mumbai. Boudharatna later married Archana. The step mother and grandmother Tarabai treated Ritika like a servant in the house and forced her to do all the household chores. They restricted her of paying visit to any of his friends and even relatives. They even restricted her from talking to neighbours. The accused tortured her mentally and on occasions did not give her proper meals. She was beaten black and blue if she was seen with any male friend, informed the police.

Finding no reason to live, she finally decided to end it on August 26. Cops have booked the three accused under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC and launched a search for the absconding culprits.
