State forms panel for implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations

: In the backdrop of 3-day strike threat by State employees, the Maharashtra Government has constituted a three-member Committee for implementation of the Seventh Central Pay Commission recommendations. The committee was formed on January 17 and will be headed by retired Additional Chief Secretary K P Bakshi. The two members are Principal Secretaries of General Administration Department and Finance Department.

The employees of State Government and Zilla Parishad had threatened to go on strike from January 18 to 20 demanding implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations. More than 20 lakh employees of State Government, ZP and other semi-government departments will get benefits once the seventh pay commission recommendations implemented.

The Committee will recommend a revision in the pay scale of state government employees keeping in view the revised pay scales of Central Government employees on the basis of Seventh Central Pay Commission recommendations. The committee will submit its recommendations within the stipulated period.

The committee would also suggest the modalities and procedure of fitment of the existing grades in the revised scale of pay recommended. It would also review the scale of other allowances and make necessary recommendations for revision.
