ST employees committee decides to go on strike

Nagpur: The committee formed by various organisations of State Transport Corporation employees has decided on Friday to launch an agitation. The day has not been decided in the committee’s meeting held in Mumbai but it was announced the ST employees will go on strike. It may be mentioned that the the draft prepared by the special committee will be burnt in the State Transport Corporation depots all over the State on January 25.

The ST employees along with their family members will hold demonstrations in Mumbai on Feb 9. During this date of agitation will be decided. The government had announced Rs 1076 crores for the salary hike after the agitation held last October. After the high court’s order a high-level committee was set up to prepare a draft. The ST employees have rejected the recommendations given by high level committee. According to ST employees the government has not fulfilled the assurance. The committee has sidelined the demands of the employees and prepared draft according to their wish.

The employees had demanded 2.57 percent rise in salary while rise recommended was 2.37 per cent. Similarly the the employee had asked for 3 per cent annual increment but it has been recommended 2 per cent while house rent demanded was 10 per cent which has be given 7 per cent. The draft is to be implemented from 1 January 2018 whereas the employees want the salary rise from 1 April 2016.
