In a major action, the Special Squad of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishu Sindhu raided a gambling den in Panchpaoli area on Sunday night and arrested 11 gamblers including the kingpin of the den. The raiding cops seized cash, a car, mobile handsets and other material collectively valued at Rs 10 lakh.

Interestingly, the Panchpaoli police were unaware of the raid and apparently kept in the dark by the Special Squad of the DCP. It is alleged that the gambling den was running under the “protection” of some Panchpaoli cops for “bountiful” reasons. Hence no raids worth significance were conducted and the kingpin Nasirullah Khan alias Yava Jamaullah Khan was “untouched” till to date, said the sources.

Sources further revealed that the Sunday’s raid was the result of a tip-off received by Zone-4 Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishu Sindhu. The tip-off said that lakhs of rupees were exchanging hands at the gambling den run by Nasirullah Khan alias Yava Jamaullah Khan in Teka Nayi Basti (Slums). Armed with the secret tip-off, the DCP Sindhu ordered his Special Squad to crackdown and raid the den. Subsequently, the Special Squad raided the gambling den on Sunday night. The raiding cops found the eleven accused including Nasirullah Khan alias Yava Jamiullah Khan, Nadim Khan Jamaullah Khan (40) of Pravesh Nagar, Sheikh Salim Sheikh Suleman (32) of Teka Slums, Gulab Khan Mehtab Khan (39) of Nayi Basti, Pradeep Badge (45) of Shantinagar Colony, Nanak Laltaprasad Yadav (39) of Shende Nagar, Sheikh Chhote alias Gause Sheikh Shakeel (19) of Sakkardara, Israel Ahmed (28) of Bhaldarpura, Azam Khan Ismail (42) of Teka Slums, Asfaq Sultan Ahmed (32) of Teka Nayi Basti and Sheikh Ramzan Sheikh Maula (46) of Jaffernagar busy in gambling. The Special Squad placed all the 11 accused under arrest and seized cash of Rs 1.65 lakh, an Innova Car (MH-31/DY 1786), 12 mobile handsets, and other material collectively worth Rs 10 lakh from their possession.

Earlier, whenever the Pachpaoli police raided the gambling den the kingpin Nasirullah Khan alias Yava Jamiullah Khan would dodge the net and go absconding. But this time the raid was conducted by Special Squad of DCP Ishu Sindhu and Yava had no chance to escape the dragnet.
