Nagpur: The lawyer fraternity in the city was jolted to the core when the Legal Advisor of SNDL Adv Praful Gupta committed suicide by hanging in his Siraspeth house on Tuesday night. Family upheaval is being stated as the reason behind the lawyer’s suicide. An in-depth police investigation could reveal the exact cause.

The advocate reportedly locked wife and two children in their bedroom and later ended his life by hanging himself in another room. The suicide by the young advocate created ripples in lawyer circles of the city.

According to information, the deceased Praful Gupta was an amiable person. SNDL PRO Deepanshu said that there was no stress or pressure as such in office. It is learnt that Praful Gupta as usual went to his Bajrang Complex house in Siraspeth on Tuesday night and reportedly had a tiff with wife over an unspecified matter. In fact, the husband-wife duo was resorting to heated arguments since the past few days. On Tuesday night also, after picking quarrel with wife, Praful, on some pretext, took her and two children to the bedroom and later locked them inside. Thereafter, he immediately committed suicide by hanging himself in another room. When his wife found the door of bedroom locked, she panicked fearing an untoward incident. She immediately contacted Police Control Room through her mobile phone and alerted them about the development. The Control Room in turn informed Imambada police. Subsequently, a team of cops led by API Shingade rushed to the scene and first opened the door of bedroom and took the children and their mother out. Later, the cops broke open the door of another room where they found Praful Gupta hanging motionless. The news of suicide spread like jungle fire and a crowd of people gathered in front of Gupta’s house.

After completing the preliminary investigation and paper formalities, cops sent body of Praful Gupta to GMCH for post-mortem. No suicide note was found by the cops triggering speculations over his extreme step.

Imambada police registered a case of accidental death and mounted a detailed probe from all angles.
