Smart City drive: domestic garbage collection process revised

Nagpur: Keeping the upgraded status of orange city as Smart City in view, the NMC health department has brought a change in domestic garbage collection process, which will be introduced in the coming week. Accordingly, wet garbage will be collected in one compartment and dry garbage in another compartment of the garbage-carrier/ trolly.

As the wind of smart city has started blowing, the NMC is geared up to do all needful for its cleanliness and hygienic drive. The health department, hence forth, will collect wet garbage and dry garbage separately from each house of the city, whicih is divided in ten zones.

To systematize the garbage collection drive, each zone has been further divided in 10-15 localities, whose details are as follows:

Laxminagar Zone–Laxmi Nagar, Tatya Tope Nagar; Dharampeth Zone–Ramnagar, Telankhedi;  Hanuman Nagar Zone–Hanuman Nagar, Wanjari Nagarm Chandan Nagar; Dhantoli Zone–Dhantoli, Chhoti Dhantoli; Nehru Nagar Zone–Nehru Nagar,Om Nagar, Gandhibagh-Mahal Zone–Sangh Building area, Gandhibagh, Mahal; Satranjipura Zone–Satranjipura, Mehadibagh, Adivasi Colony; Lakadganj Zone–Lakadganj,  Qweta Colony; Asinagar Zone–Asinagar, Arya Nagar; Mangalwari Zone–Mangalwari, Akarnagar, Sadar.The citizens will be required  to collect wet garbage in green bag while dry garbage in white or black bag and wait for the garbage-carrier/ trolly.

The wet garbage should consist of wasted vegetables, fruits, egg-shell, stale food or remains, bones, coconut shells while dry garbage should consist of waste papers, thermocol, metals, nails, wires, plastic, cloth, glass, bottles, rubber, etc. The citizens are urged to cooperate with NMC in such garbage collection drive.
