Shiv Nadar stresses need for entrepreneurs who create jobs at IMT Convocation

While addressing the passing-out students of Institute of Management Technology, Chief Guest Founder and Chairman of HCL and Shiv Nadar Foundation Shiv Nadar highlighted the need for entrepreneurs in our country who create jobs for innumerable people, as opposed to creation of just one job by working for a company. He encouraged the students to take a shot at entrepreneurship, as they are well prepared for it even though they may not be aware of it. The Convocation ceremony marks a memorable day in the life of every student manager, who assimilates their knowledge and experiences of these two years to further utilize it in the corporate world.

Shiv Nadar was speaking at the 10th Convocation of Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur for its PGDM outgoing batch 2013-15 on March 4, 2015.

The ceremony was presided over by Member of Parliament and President, Governing Council, IMT Nagpur Kamal Nath, Vice-President, Governing Council, IMT Nagpur Bakul Nath also attended the Convocation adding to the gravitas of this ceremonious day.  The students were conferred Diplomas for the programs of PGDM, PGDM (Finance) and PGDM (Marketing). The convocation ceremony was attended by the parents of the outgoing batch, industry experts, representatives from the corporate world, alumni, and local as well as national media houses.

The recipients of the awards and medals from the batch of PGDM 2013-15 included Shuchi Sultania and Swati Bhatt in PGDM (Finance), Karishma Tyagi and E. Dheeraja in PGDM (Marketing) and Lalit Kumar Pati and B.N.V. Karthik in PGDM.

The gold medal for “Best Outgoing Student” was awarded to Shuchi Sultania. In this convocation, 299 students received their post graduate diploma, informed the Program Chairperson of IMT Nagpur Prof Sayan Banerjee. Dean and Officiating Director, IMT Nagpur Dr. Subhajit Bhattacharyya announced the collaboration of IMT Nagpur with the Economic Times and Times of India Group in launching ET CASES, a repository of cases written on Indian content capturing idiosyncrasies of Indian business and society.

In his address to the graduating batch, Member of Parliament and President, Governing Council, IMT Nagpur Kamal Nath spoke about the importance of ethics in management especially in today’s time, post the global economic meltdown. It is as important to be a good individual and human being, as it is to be a good manager. He also emphasized on the importance of hard work and patience, saying that talent alone cannot contribute to one’s success.
