Shehnaz Akhtar sets the stage on fire at the Grand finale of Raisoni Fest ‘Kashti’

Shehnaz Akhtar sets the momentum of the evening of the grand finale of Kashti rolling with his melodious renditions. He started his performance with the Sufi Number “Kun Fayakun” originally sung by A. R. Rahman, Javed Ali, Mohit Chauhan, Nizami Brothers. He then sung one after another songs that were on hot demand by the students. While the girls demanded Romantic numbers, the guys preferred rocking dance numbers. He catered to the demands of the students without showing any attitude.

In an exclusive talk with Nagpur Today, he said that singing is and has been hereditary. His parents were singing so were theirs. Music has been in the family. He said that he has been singing right from his childhood. Be it school or college, he has been performing and winning many awards, Shehnaz claimed. After his tryst with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, where he was adjudged first runners up, he started performing at various places. He said that his Guru is Sanjay Vidhyarthi, who is training him in classical music. He said that he practices regularly for at least 1.5 to 2 hours. When asked if he faced any problems in his life, he said that at the age of 21, I am very much on the stage and am getting due recognition only because of the will and doing of Almighty God. (Allah ka Karam).

He said that as long as I keep receiving Almighty’s blessings, Elder’s blessing and love of youngsters and my fans, I will continue to progress and perform better and better every-day.

His message to the youngsters of the Nagpur is to keep practicing and not to get deterred from anything. Try and bring out the optimum best in you. Work on it and under the able guidance of a Guru, one can surely succeed. He said the role of a Guru or a Mentor is very important. He added that Sufi Music which is romantic music depicting pure love for Almighty or One’s beloved is what soothes him and his soul (Rooh). He was here in the city with the Talent Manager of Zee TV Prema.

Earlier in the morning the grand finale of Kashti was formally inaugurated at the Vasantrao Deshpande Hall on March 4, 2014 by Group Director of Raisoni Group of Educational Institutions Dr Ravindra Aher, Co-ordinator of GH Raisoni School of Business Management Sofia Ansari, Director of Information Technology, Raisoni College Mamta Mutthal and Convener of Kashti 2014 Dr Devendra Ramteke.

After the rain playing the spoil-sport and delaying the students from reaching the venue, the programme kicked off to a great start.

The show started with a Nukkad Natak (Street Play). The first one was a replica of Comedy Nights with Kapil. The second play depicted the life of a Joker who is held imprisoned in a cage. The joker played by a student Ukey had a brilliant performance and evoked a tear or two from many girl students sitting in the audience. Right from the make-up to his dress and his enactment of his role was splendid and superb. He evoked and emoted various emotions in a spell binding manner and had the audience (specially the noisy college students) silent.

The final rounds of the Fashion Show started with beautiful gals and guys of GH Raisoni School of Business Management. The teams that participated included: Esty Lo, Galaxy of Youth, Seven-O-Seven, Rock-On-Hunter, Show-Stopper, Palaz Group (from GHRIMR), Swagger and Avengers.

The Judges were Sunny Francis and Anuja Sharma. They judged the participants on Confidence, Dresses, Theme and Walk.

One of the judges of Fashion Show while talking to Nagpur Today said that it is a very good thing that Fashion Show is initiated and encouraged in most Colleges. All that is required is one has to work hard.

The participants who had come from various engineering and other professional colleges had style and elan. While some looked and performed with elan just as a professional would.

The second performer of the Kashti-2014 Paulami Majumdar who is a rocking singer from Mumbai performed on many popular Hindi movie numbers. Her rendition of the popular number “Lungi Dance” had the guys and gals dancing away to glory. With her number, the show came to a grand end with the prize distribution ceremony.

The total dedication on the part of Co-ordinator of GH Raisoni School of Business Management Sofia Ansari, and her efforts to enhance the intelligence quotient in the minds of her students, and her playing the vital role of moulding the character of every student like punctuality, innovative methods to tap the innate talents and potentialities that are dormant in every student was seen in her co-ordinating the entire programme of Kashti-2014. Her commitment and sense of responsibility was seen when she persevered to ensure the smooth functioning of all the students and the completion of the programme successfully. Sofia Ansari, Dr Ramteke and Group Director Aher were seen right till the end ensuring everything works well and every student returns safely back to their homes.
