Nagpur: As you go through these lines, you must be living up to this very thought that reflects the current picture of smartphone age. People are so busy in their lives that whenever they get little time they cling on to Facebook and Twitter instead of spending valuable time with their dear ones, their parents or any other person for that matter.

Nagpur’s famous former Radio Jockey RJ Raj aka Yash Raj Trivedi has penned this book which he fondly named as “Shayraaz – Kyonki Har Shayari kuch Kahti hai”. The book would be launched on April 23, 2017 at the hands of renowned socialist and melodious singer Mrs Amruta Fadnavis (wife of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis). Mr Davis Pendharkar of Vicco Group and Mr Paras Jain of Chattarpur Farms would also be present as special guests at Le Meridian at 6.30 pm onwards.

Source of Inspiration

When asked what led to the idea behind bringing out Shayraaz, Raj said, “Being in the radio industry as RJ for over 6 years and recalling all my past experiences, interacting with people from all walks of life, I often try to put those experiences into words. So Shayraaz is actually the extract all such real life experiences which I am sure would effectively connect to varied audience. It would sooth every nerve and connects everyone who looks forward to pamper their emotions or reconnect with their inner self.”

It took him 3 years to bring this all. His friend and city’s famed choreographer Manish Makeshwar, with whom he often shared his writings, inspired him to bring out this book. His wife also motivated him for the project. However he grasped this knack for words from his father who was a big music connoisseur and had a special inclination towards the songs of legendary singer Mohammed Rafi. Raj said, “My father used to get the unreleased songs of Rafi and after listening to those songs he took this as an achievement and pride. I drew inspiration right from there and got to know the real importance of words in our lives.”

Shayraaz for the cause

RJ Raj wanted to put all the incomings from the sale of Shayraaz towards the families of farmers who have committed suicide in the region. Sharing his thoughts behind the move, Raj said, “I have gone through really hard times, and I truly could not accept that fact that someone has to end his life just because of the penury leading to the distress.”

He quips, “ I am just trying to put up a perspective and looking forward that we can make this world a beautiful place to live. He opined, “Post demonetization the lives of commoners have been cocooned in percentage. Common thought prevails that if I get one percentage of this or that, I will be a happy guy. But while sinking his mind into the single percentage, he often forgets to take care of the 99 percentage which is actually his life.”

Words that grows on you

As we zoom towards the digital society, the literary enthusiasts rarely get a valuable piece to read. Amid the rush of instant shayaris and witty poetries, there appears a bouquet of shayaris that hold a unique value for its different perspective towards life, and equally instant connectivity with those who love reading and also for those who are not so fond of reading. Raj says, “As they say Kabhi kisi to mukammal (favorable) jahaan nahi milta Kisi ko Katrina kisi ko salman nahi milta, Shayraaz has different take. Shayraaz kahta hai, Kabhi kisi to mukammal jahaan nahi milta, Kisi ko card kisi ko Aadhaar nahi milta. In his book Shayraaz, RJ Raj has tried to connect the chord of each and every individual. Striking a different take on his book, he said, Shayraaz believes that he is himself a sinner and so everyone has committed one or the other in their lives. He swiftly puts it, “Har phool chaman ka shringar nahi hota hai, har kisi ko dil se pyaar nahi hota… Ae mere gunahon ko parakhne waalon, yahaan kaun hai jo gunehgar nahi hota (Not every flower of season is adorned, not all love from the bottom of their hearts…Those who are out to judge me for my sins, let me ask who is not a sinner)

Set to return as RJ Raj

Yashraj Trivedi, popularly known as RJ Raj owing to his previous stint as one of the hot favourites radio jockey associated with a famous radio channel, is also willing to make a comeback on radio. Expressing his views about the current state of radio channels in Nagpur, he said, “At the onset, the radio channels flourished with the boom but now there appears to be a kind of saturation in the scenario. However I would love to draw the charm of city listeners towards radio once again. Yes I would soon return to radio and keep the listeners entertained and informed. I really wanted to bring back that level of radio which once took the Nagpur by storm.”
