Rural Crime Branch nabs 4 car-borne gang members, cracks thefts at SBI, coop bank

Nagpur: In a well-planned operation, the Crime Branch of Nagpur Rural Police not only foiled burglary plan of a gang but also cracked thefts in the offices of State Bank of India and a cooperative bank by arresting four car-borne members of the gang on Wednesday (September 16). The arrests were made in Kalmeshwar Police Station jurisdiction.

The Crime Branch of Nagpur Rural Police on Wednesday received a tip off that four suspicious persons were travelling in Mahindra Xylo car (MH-40/AC 5427) and were spotted near Gondkhairi village with the motive of committing a crime. Subsequent to the tip-off, the Crime Branch formed two squads and laid a trap at 14th mile on Nagpur-Amravati Highway No. 6. The waiting police squads spotted the Mahindra Xylo car and stopped it. In the car, the cops found the four accused Sandeep alias Math Vitthalrao Ingle (36), resident of IC Square, Nagpur, Abhishek Anil Nagrale (21), resident of Wanadongri, Anup Sudhir Patil (22), resident of Rajiv Nagar and Rakesh alias Raka Dilip Das (25), resident of Mahajanwadi, seated. The four accused were detained and subjected to sustained grilling. The hot questioning forced the four members of the gang to spill the beans. They confessed their role in the thefts in the offices of State Bank of India and Buldana Urban Coop Bank, both situated in Kalmeshwar. An offence in this regard was registered at Kalmeshwar Police Station. Moreover, the gang also confessed a plan to strike at another cooperative bank.

The operation was given effect by Crime Branch Police Inspector Satish Govekar, APIs Ulhas Bhusari, Purshottam Aherkar, Ajabsingh Jarwal, constables Moreshwar Nagpure, Pramod Bansod and other policemen under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Rural) Dr Arti Singh and Additional SP Ateem Kale.
