A girl student of Indira Gandhi Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Mauda Tehsil made her school proud by topping the Rationalist Talent Search Examination (RTSE) in entire Maharashtra. The Class IX student, Ruchika Jagdeesh Ahirkar, bagged the first rank in the RTSE in the State.

In a programme organized at the premises of Indira Gandhi Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Ruchika was felicitated at the hands of Sarpanch Prakash Kallewar, Deputy Sarpanch Jitendra Dupare and Headmistress Shanta Khandekar for her outstanding feat.

Ruchika’s feat assumes significance as she hails from a poor family. Her father Jagdeesh Ahirkar works as labourer and mother Kiran Ahirkar works as a house maid.

Other students of the district who displayed their skills in the RTSE with aplomb include Ayush Barsagde (First in district), Achal Dhande (second), Pragati Bansod (second), Sachin Puram (second), Yashaswi Shende (second), Lokesh Dholekar (fourth), Payal Jhalke (fourth), Arti Kurre (fifth) and Anag Barbare who stood sixth in the district.
