RTI expose: Police, Revenue Departments top list of bribery cases in Nagpur Range

Nagpur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nagpur Range has informed that a total of 173 trap cases were registered and 206 Government servants were arrested for demanding and accepting bribes in the year 2015 (January 1 to December 17). Similarly, in the year 2014, 154 trap cases were registered and 197 public servants were arrested while in 2013, 73 traps were laid and 87 persons were nabbed for bribery. Police and Revenue Departments topped the list of bribery cases.

This information was provided to noted RTI activist Abhay Kolarkar who had sought details from Anti-Corruption Bureau, Nagpur Range, through RTI query.

In 2013, the bribe money demanded in 73 trap cases stood at Rs 3,32,000. Similarly, the bribe money accepted amounted to Rs 6,12,798. In 2014, the demand for bribes in 154 trap cases stood at Rs 1,73,200 and the money accepted Rs 37,71,300. In 2015, the figures were Rs 14,54,700 and Rs 17,21,000 respectively in 206 trap cases.
