RTENagpur: The education department has declared lottery result wherein 6,838 students are selected for free school admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) quota on Thursday. The admission process for selected applicants will start from Friday. Between March 10 and 20, the admission formalities have to be completed.

“Though the available seats were 7,099 but we selected only 6,838 students as many parents are not interested to admit their children to the Marathi and Hindi medium schools that we had listed”, said Premchand Raut, coordinator for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA).

Parents should keep all the documents in order and have to submit them to the school accordingly. The parents must carry originals of the documents they had submitted during the application process.

Schools will verify address proof very carefully as location of school with respect to the applicant’s residence is the most crucial parameter. While applying online, the applicant has to pinpoint his residential address of Google Map after which the software throws up names of eligible schools. Since mapping is done completely based on applicants’ input, it is vital to cross check address proof.

The RTE lottery software uses a unique algorithm logic which gets its initial starting grid by randomly chosen numbers. This is the first step that was completed on Wednesday at a public event. The lottery grids are filled by randomly selected number, a process in which the public too participated. As in the previous years, the practice is to place four separate bowls filled with paper chits containing numbers.

Children from the audience were called to choose the chits and read out the numbers. The numbers were verified by authorities and then entered into the grid. This entire process was videotaped to ensure complete transparency. Once the grid was completed it was displayed on a large screen and the public was asked to click a picture, if they needed, of the screen.

These grid numbers were then sent to education department headquarters at Pune where it was fed into the lottery software. The second step was the conduct of lottery itself. Selected parents got an SMS on their registered mobile numbers informing them about their child’s admission status. Through which they have to download the admission form and should be completed with the procedure before the mentioned timeline.
