Twitter’s announcement that it will be shuffling through algorithm raising eyebrows that it is going to make big changes in Twitter timeline and basic functionality drew much ire from users who promptly termed this Twitter doomsday with #RIPTwitter hashtag making way up the trending chart. Reports claim the changes could come as early as next week.

There are speculation that the following function may turn into send a friend request and direct messages may metamorphose into a messenger function similar to the one in Facebook. The most common complaint being brought up about Twitter’s shift is that it’ll essentially be turning into Facebook. And, sure, the beauty of Twitter’s freedom of expression and finding ways to connect with people of interest without being squared in a parapet may get baffled.

Twitter officials claim that they continue to show a questioning of fundamentals in order to make the product easier and more accessible to the mass. It’s not the first time that’s the social giant has set out experimenting for improving ways people connect. Last year, it added the “while you were away” function displaying prominent tweets that were featured when away user was away from the virtual world. “Favorites” for tweets since vanished in lieu of ”hearts”or “likes.” There are speculations that 140-character limit per tweets may be vanishing soon.

The ire toward Twitter’s new algorithm may be premature and a little too eulogized even before trying the new version. Over the past few months, Twitter has been testing new algorithmic timeline few random users, and showed satisfaction for wider expansion, according to media reports. Users should keep their fingers crossed in anticipation of what is to come.
