The deceased is 23-year-old Afreen Ashraf Kacchi. She used to live with her younger brother Awais who is class XI student at Hislop College. On Saturday, after Awais left for college, Afreen went to her room and hanged herself.

Awais returned at 2 pm and was shocked to see his sister hanging from the ceiling. He raised an alarm and the neighbours rushed to the flat to investigate. The information was relayed to flat owner who in turn informed police control room.

The reason behind suicide is still a mystery. Afreen had appeared for examination recently. She was sent to Nagpur to study as there were no good coaching classes and educational facilities at her native town Wani in Yavatmal district. Awais was sent with her for added security.

Second suicide in 10 days
This is second suicide by well educated girl in the city this week. On August 20, 32 year-old Prajakta Arun Deshmukh drowned her eight month-old son Sarvesh in a well and committed suicide.

She had arrived from USA to Nagpur to take care of her ailing father. Prajakta was a gold medalist in MBA and just like Afreen, the reason behind her suicide is also a mystery. She was staying at her sister-in-law’s home and on the fateful day, had gone out on pretext of buying Rakhi. On August 26, a 19 year-old Karateka Vikas Sanjay Gudadhe had also hanged himself at Kushi Nagar in Jaripatka.
